How does Kojic Acid work?
Kojic Acid is regarded as one of the best skin-lightening agents in the beauty industry. It exerts a slow and effective reversible inhibition of tyrosinase, thus preventing melanin formation.
According to available data from various studies, it can be used as a monotherapy or combined with other agents.
It is widely used as a skin-lightening agent in cosmetics (concentration 2-4%) or dermatological preparations.
Apart from skin-lightening action Kojic acid also has anti-oxidant properties, moderate anti-inflammatory effect, and UV protection action. It can be used for sunburn and post acne inflammation and redness.
